GM Recalled 1,750 Sedans Pickup Trucks over Faulty Airbags
A new but not Takata-related airbag recall was issued today. GM recalled 1,750 sedans pickup trucks over faulty airbags. The front airbags were placed in the vehicles’ steering wheels. The recall was issued today along with a stop-sales order, which forbids dealers from selling the affected vehicles until the defect has been repaired.The affected models are the 2016 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickups and the Chevy Malibu sedans. The vehicles are found in the U.S. and Canada. GM will also recall models found in Mexico but did not have a count of the recalled vehicles at the time of this writing.As stated in the opening paragraph this airbag recall is NOT Takata-related! At the present time, GM has not revealed the name of the manufacturer of the airbags behind this recall. No injuries related to these defective airbags have been reported thus far.
