The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning pet owners across the country to avoid Performance Dog frozen raw pet food because it may be contaminated by Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. The warning came after a sample of the dog food tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.

According to the FDA, the potentially contaminated dog food was produced on or after July 22, 2019. During sampling, two different samples were tested. One of the samples of raw pet food was Performance Dog. Both the samples were “taken by the FDA as a part of a routine inspection in the Bravo Packing, Inc. manufacturing facility in Carneys Point, New Jersey.”As a result of the test results, the FDA is urging pet owners to avoid all types of Performance Dog raw pet food because it “represents a serious threat to human and animal health.” Salmonella and L. monocytogenes can pose serious health issues to humans and animals. Anyone experiencing symptoms of either bacteria should contact their healthcare professional immediately. If your dog is experiencing symptoms, contact a veterinarian.This isn't the first time Bravo packing, Inc. has tested positive for contamination. In fact, back in September 2018, the company was forced to issue a recall for dog food because of contamination.
